About The Artist

John Brennan is a professional fine artist who specializes in oil and acrylic painting with a focus on realism. He was born in New Jersey and grew up on the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten where he gained an appreciation for art and the natural world. In the year 2000, he and his family moved to Florida, where he continued his education, studying the flute and graduating from the University of South Florida with BA in Music (2012.) He now lives and works from his studio in Lutz Florida. 


He is a signature member of the Society of Animal Artists, The Miniature Artists of America and the Miniature Painters sculptor and Gravers Society. His work with Ducks Unlimited as well as several state duck stamp programs have raised tens of thousands of dollars for the preservation of wetland habitats across the United States.

John Brennan was named one of The Business Journal’s “30 under 30” in 2017.

In 2020, The University of South Florida, honored him with an Outstanding Young Alumni award.


Works have exhibited in museums including:


-The Bennington Center

-The Arizona-Sonora Dessert Museum, 

-The James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art

-The Roger Tory Peterson Institute 

-The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art

-The Tampa Museum of Art

-The Hiram Blauvelt art Museum 


John has won several awards for his work with state duck stamp contests, with work featured on the Oklahoma, Connecticut, Michigan and the California duck stamps, as well as the Idaho Ducks Unlimited sponsor artist of the year. John has placed in the top 6 of the Federal Duck Stamp Contest 5 times. His painting of an Anhinga was also featured as the companion piece to the 2020 Federal Duck Stamp.
